Colors of Lavender

Lavender is one of the most easily recognised plants. It’s vibrant color and
delicate sweet yet woodsy aroma are too hard to miss. The plant is used
often in everyday products, such as bathing, home cleaning and even as
home, stores and weddings decorations.
The plant started it’s journey at the Mediterranean region 2500 years ago and
was wildly used by ancient civilisations. Lavender served an important role in
the mummification process to perfume the body by the Egyptians. The
Ancient Greeks were using it as ailments for headaches and indigestion.
Many plants were sold during the 16th century Black Plague as the scent
could cover the smell of the dead.
In the modern world Lavender has various medical uses. It can soothe
burns, treat aching muscles and joints and alopecia (hair loss). It’s being
studied for its antibacterial and antiviral properties, as it can treat fungal
infections. Lavender cleanses the skin and can fight acne breakouts. The
Ancient Greeks were right, consuming lavender can help with digestive
problems like vomiting, nausea and abdominal swelling. The plant however
is most known for it’s relaxing abilities. Smelling lavender can ease sleepless
nights as research suggest it may have the ability to slow the activity of the
nervous system. Massaging essential or infused lavender oil has calming
effects to anxiety attacks, helps concentration and can stabilise our mood.
Lavender is rightfully the symbol of purity, serenity, devotion and calmness.
