Purifying Sage

Sage, or Salvia officinalis, is a herb with long and rich history of use through out
the world. The herb originates to the Mediterranean shores and has been used for
centuries by the ancient civilisations.
In Ancient Greece was believed that the Sage holds healing powers and was used
for every kind of ailments, from digestive disorders to snake bites and menstrual
cramps. Sage could improve memory and cognitive function. It can enhance
mental clarity and improve concentration. Even rituals and religious ceremonies
were performed with Sage. Burning Sage would ward off evil spirits and was
associated with the goddess Athena.
At the time of Middle Ages Sage was a natural remedy for coughs, colds and sore
throats, as well as healing wounds and infections.
During the Renaissance Sage was started having cosmetic uses because of its
aroma.
In Native American culture was, as well used in purification ceremonies and carried
the symbol of wisdom and longevity.
Even through the passage of time, Sage has not lost its value for its many health
benefits. It’s a rich source of antioxidants, which assist the prevention of chronic
diseases such as cancer and diabetes. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it
useful in the treatment of a wide range of conditions, including arthritis and other
inflammatory disorders. It can also help reduce the risk of heart disease by
lowering cholesterol levels and improving circulation. Studies have shown that
sage can help improve memory and cognitive function in healthy adults, as well as
those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.
In addition, sage has antimicrobial properties, which make it effective in treating
infections and promoting wound healing.
Sage is a magical plant both for its physical and metaphysical properties.
